In addition to working as a business consultant, Monica has founded several companies, including an eponymous skincare line and a successful business centered on natural, chemical-free body care, and has worked in advertising and marketing for more than twenty years.

Her entrepreneurial spirit is fueled by the often traumatic experiences of her youth, which helped to cultivate the fierce and fearless personality that prepared her to build and direct successful industry-leading companies.

Monica loves sharing her story and giving hope to those in crisis, which she has done for over three decades. She devotes much of her time to working with women by guiding them through life’s challenges. This has been instrumental in her development, and Monica describes it as a life-changing experience. Freely giving her time has helped her to shed a self-centered worldview and gain new insight into human motivation and interactions.

My Values

Compassion.

I believe in being compassionate with yourself and others when it comes to your healing journey.

Accountability.

We don’t have to let our past traumas, failures, or struggles define us. Accountability is an important part of healing, learning, and growing.

Honesty.

I’ll always be honest (and sometimes unfiltered!) when I’m giving my opinion, but I’m also very gentle when needed.

Do No Harm.

A riveting memoir of my rape as a fifteen-year-old adoptee —and the pregnancy that changed my life. During Alaska’s rough-and-tumble 1970s oil-boom, a time when prostitution, violence, and lawlessness reigned, I rebelled against my strict religious parents in a downward spiral of delinquency. Overwhelmed by guilt and shame when the unthinkable happened, I was forced to make impossible choices. These events kicked off a decades-long search for family and belonging. Thread by thread, I weaved together the truth of my identity, pulled by yearning for my daughter and the mother who gave me away.

5 Fun Facts About Me

  1. I’ve founded and sold multiple businesses. A construction and custom landscaping business, a cosmetics company, and a skincare wellness company called Plantlife.

  2. I’m indigenous. I’m Plains Cree and didn’t find out until I finally found my biological family at age 23 years-old. Herbal medicine healing is in my blood, and I use a lot of herbal remedies in my daily life.

  3. I’m clean and sober. I decided to get sober when I was 26 and never looked back.

  4. Having grown up in Alaska, I experienced a unique childhood. During the summer months, the night sky would be illuminated with a mesmerizing cotton candy glow, casting a gentle twilight that still allows me to sleep peacefully in the brightest of rooms to this day.

  5. Monica is my middle name. My birth mother named me Gloria Debra Reed, but my parents changed it to Mary Monica when they adopted me.
